The Weekend

From the Inflatable Art Show at 3rd Ward this past weekend

This weekend is bringing warmer temperatures and, FINALLY, some spring days.

Friday night brings another installment of Brooklyn Boogie at The Gym Park (located in Greenpoint).

Dress for comfort and self-expression. People of all backgrounds, ages, and physical abilities are welcome and celebrated. Stay sober, let loose."

There's also a dance night/pizza party at one of my favorite bars in the neighborhood, Veronica People's Club.  This is a free event and is also where a friend of mine is celebrating his birthday.  Should be fun!

From Time Out Magazine's Things to Do This Week:

"This free pizza party features the random musical tastes of East Village Radio's Max Wowch and Kevin Pedersen. Be ready for anything from British punk to disco classics, and of course, free slices from next-door neighbor Franklin Pizza."

And to round out the Friday night festivites, one of my favorite bands from home will be in NYC.  Nick Tolford and Company will be playing a set at Lit Lounge.  Imagine an updated Sam Cooke, smooth vocals, and amazing music - totally worth a trip into the city.  Go check them out if you can.

Saturday, the Brooklyn Flea's open air market in Fort Greene is open to the public in the courtyard of Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School.  It will be open every Saturday from 10am to 5pm through November.

From their Facebook page
At 3:00pm at Union Square it will be time for the annual International Pillow Fight Day.  I don't think I'll be participating but I would like to be there to see the mayhem happen.

Here's a video of a friend of mine taking a stage dive into the pillow fight a couple of years ago.  He's much braver than I am!

Later in the evening, Target First Saturdays is again happening at the Brooklyn Museum.  I can't emphasize enough how much fun these nights are at the museum.

Sunday, the Brooklyn Flea's Williamsburg open air market sets up right next to the Williamsburg waterfront between North 6th Street and North 7th Street.  They will be open every Sunday, from 10am to 5pm through November 20th.

Hopefully if the weather holds this weekend I'll be transporting myself around on the bike.  I'm so antsy to get outside!
