This weekend is pretty tame compared to the action packed schedule I had last weekend. J is going to be here next week and I've been trying to get the apartment ready for his visit. Some of the weekend will definitely be spent working on the apartment - cleaning, maybe rearranging some furniture, and hopefully getting some fabric wall hangings up on my bedroom walls (pictures forthcoming). There are plans for a visit to Astoria to hang out with an old friend on Sunday. I also plan on riding my bike on the bike lane on Leonard as far as I can take it first thing in the morning.
Also, on Sunday We Ride the Lanes are planning a walk and ride down the Prospect Park West bike path as a show of support for this bike lane.
From their website:
"Familes of friends of the new Prospect Park West will be gathering at Grand Army Plaza at 10:30am and getting some cool free t-shirts. Starting at 11am we'll be riding (and walking) the entire length of the bike path to the Bartel-Pritchard entrance of Prospect park at 15th Street.
At the end of the ride there will be free hot dogs from Bark, cupcakes from Blue Sky Bakery and more from our bike shop sponsors Bicycle Habitat and Ride Brooklyn.
Volunteers from Transportation Alternatives will be stationed along the route to keep the ride safe and hopefully free of skinned knees."
The Brooklyn Biathlon will be happening that morning in Prospect Park as well.
And a couple bike related links:
Brooklyn Brainery has their list of courses up for April. Among them is a Bike Basics course on Sunday, April 17th for only $5! (J and I have signed up and will be attending this one. It's on a drop in basis so scheduling is flexible.)
Enjoy your weekend!
